Description	The contents of this file were formerly in a portfolio, the title of which (according to the Inventory compiled by the Assay Office in 1822) was: W. Matthews Chtte. Matthews 1792 to 1796 Under Matthew Robinson Boulton’s arrangement the portfolio was placed in Box K. II ("Special Correspondents—Partners and Agents"). Unfortunately, the portfolio appears to have been discarded. 38 was transferred to this file by the Assay Office, but its origin is not known. The copy letters are all press-copies.
