LevelCollection
DescriptionBackground
Aston Cross library run by Aston Manor Urban District Council was located on Lichfield Road, the main highway between Aston and Birmingham. Opened in 1903 with land donated by Ansells Brewery and paid for by Andrew Carnegie. When the library closed in the 1970s, collections of Birmingham history books, maps and newspapers were transferred to the Local Studies section at the Central Library. The Birmingham history books were retained as a clearly identifiable series of tomes and acknowledgement of their provenance at Aston Cross.

Donations to and purchases for addition to this collection are no longer made.

Texts identified as part of the collection employ an AX prefix followed by a number - the number can be shared by several texts. The majority of titles will appear in the pre - 1941 Local Studies catalogue as well as the online library catalogue.
