| Description | Some minute volumes indexed. The minutes are handwritten and printed and signed by the committee chairman. The minutes are in uniformly titled committee minute books, and detailed information on all manner of Council business not formally dealt with in the minutes and associated records of the main Council committees (and their subordinate sub-committees). For example, the minute book for 1968 (see BCC/1/AG/1/1/55) includes details of departmental visits to other parts of the country and abroad (including a proposed visit by members of the House Building Committee's to Czechoslovakia), schedules of applicants for various licenses (for example, Private Employment Agency Licenses), reports of the General Purposes Committee to Council, reports of the Town Clerk to the General Purposes Committee, and a number of reports of ad hoc bodies to the committee on such matters as local arts organisations, the Josiah Mason Orphanage and the Birmingham waterways. There are also the detailed statements of the City Treasurer of annual income and expenditure of the City Treasurer for various Council committees and departments. |
