The report is divided into four main sections that detail the current advantages and disadvantages of water transport in the West Midlands, improved water transport in the city of Birmingham, a choice of possible routes (including the proposed Lifford to Tyseley Canal) and estimates as to the possible costs of the scheme. There is a plan attached to the inside back cover of the file detailing the main Birmingham to Wolverhampton route (Scale: 1 inch to the mile), with major towns and cities circled in pink. There is also a loose plan enclosed which accompanies the report (Scale: 1 inch to 7.5 miles) which details the main canal routes from Birmingham, including those to Bristol, Liverpool and Ellesmere Port. |
