The minutes include detailed reports with regard to sites allocated for purchase and lease (with details on location of land, duration of lease and costs) and associated reports of the City Treasurer and Finance Committee, Treasurer's Memoranda and tables of proposed projects under contract and the degree of urgency attached to each. There are also schedules of increased costs relative to prioritising resources for the various Council committees and departments, with lists of duties specific to each committee and department as stipulated in the relevant central government legislation. The minutes provide useful and relatively concise information as to how the Council rendered the difficult task of prioritising resources across its growing portfolio of functions and responsibilities in public policy, particularly during periods of economic depression in the early 1920s and early 1930s. |
