LevelSub Series
Date1936 - 1939
DescriptionThe minutes are printed and signed by the committee chairman. The minutes are in the appropriately dated sub-committee minute volumes (see BCC/1/AM/26/1). The minutes include information relating to the preparation of a new income-based sliding scale for determining the rents to be paid by tenants of Council properties, with tables of minimum rents allocated for each type of municipal house (i.e. parlour type, non-parlour type, maisonette, flat) relative to wages and occupational groups. Earnings of children were regarded as 'secondary income', of which a proportion of that wage was added to the primary income fixed on the scale (see sub-committee report on the proposed scheme interleaved with the minutes of 12 January 1937, minute 9, in BCC/1/AM/17/1/1). There are also blank copies of claim forms filled in by tenants and prospective tenants as to their current employment and wage, size of family, type of house and any current financial assistance granted for payment of rent.
