| AdminHistory | The Sewage Sub-Committee was appointed in August 1857, and consisted of four members. Its main function was to liaise with the Borough Surveyor and consider, and if necessary revise, his report on the application of the sewage of the borough to agricultural purposes, which was presented to the Public Works Committee in September 1855. The conclusion was simply to recommend that the sub-committee meet with the Surveyor and the land owners around the valley of the River Tame, with a view to treating the sewage so as not to pollute the river and used that waste which is valuable as manure. A Sewerage Committee was set up the following year (see BCC/1/AS). |
