| Description | Minute volumes indexed. The minutes are printed and typescript format and signed by the committee Chairman. The minutes include the detailed reports of the Management Sub-Committee to the main committee and the Council which contain a large amount of information relating to the provision of the various library services, including Central Library, community and branch libraries and temporary library services (particularly on council estates and other new housing developments). There is information concerning the annual revision of periodical subscriptions for the various libraries, building and maintenance works, equipment and library stock and staffing and salaries, as well as accounts and statements of departmental income and expenditure, and related correspondence and papers. There are also lists of public suggestions for books to be purchased for the main reference library and other buildings and visitations to library buildings by councillors, local authority staff and other dignitaries. The minutes of 25 January 1950 also include reports, correspondence and associated printed literature concerning Quota and Designated Employments Schemes for the disabled in connection with the Disabled Persons Employment Act, 1944 (see minute 14938 in BCC/1/AT/3/1/20). |
