| AdminHistory | The Lending Library Books Sub-Committee was appointed in January 1891, in accordance with the model established in 1879 for the Reference Library (see Reference Library Sub-Committee minutes, BCC 1/AT/6). It initially comprised of three members of the main committee, although this number increased slightly later. To begin with, its main function was to recommend to the Management Sub-Committee whether to accept offers of donations and what book purchases to make for the Lending Library, and also advised on issues relating to the cost of library book stock. The sub-committee was in effect a sub-sub-committee to the Management Sub-Committee (see BCC 1/AT/3) but, since it had its own distinct function, has been listed as a separate sub-committee. |
