| AdminHistory | This sub-committee was formed during August 1916. Its function was, initially, to increase the size of the departmental laboratory (at an initial cost of £1620) for undertaking research work on the physical properties of metals to help with the war effort and assisting local companies’ trade after the war. In October 1946 this sub-committee was disbanded, with is work being divided between the Works and the Finance Sub-Committees (see BCC/1/AY/3 and BCC/1/AY/4). Meetings were held quarterly at the company offices. There are some records of the Industrial Research Laboratories in the Birmingham City Council archive (see BCC/1/AY/D/2). |
