| Description | Minute volumes indexed. The minutes are handwritten and printed and signed by the committee Chairman. The books pre-date the uniformly titled and dated sequence, and are entitled 'Museum and School of Art Committee', with no dates on the spines or the cover. The minutes include the reports of the committee to Council, progress reports on works to the Museum, Art Gallery and School of Art (including Branch Schools), tenders for works, as well as detailed information concerning the day-to-day administrative business of these buildings once opened, including maintenance and equipment, collections management, visitor numbers, thefts and other incidents, staffing and accounts and statements of income and expenditure. There is information relating to numbers and types of objects and specimins in the collections of the various institutions. There is also some information relating to Aston Hall, which also fell under the care of the committee. The minutes of a meeting of 3 March 1883 include a detailed report on the architectural works for the proposed School of Art undertaken by Sapcotes Builders (see minutes 9 - 14 in BCC/1/BA/1/1/1), and references to these works occur throughout the subsequent minutes.
