| Description | Minute volumes indexed. The minutes are handwritten and printed and signed by the committee Chairman. The minutes are in the appropriately titled minute volume. The minutes include tables of loans sent by the city museum and art gallery to other collections for exhibition purposes, including description of loan and despatch and return number. There is also more general information relating to building maintenance, charitable bequests, collections management (including storage and exhibition cases used), staffing and finance. There is also some information relating to the administration of Aston Hall, which also fell under the care of the Museum and School of Art Committee. The minutes of 12 December 1911 include a report on the damage done to the Museum by an explosion in a testing room of the nearby Gas Department offices on 20 October 1911, including injuries sustained by some museum staff (see minutes 2360 in BCC/1/BA/3/1/5), with subsequent minutes detailing the repair work undertaken. |
