| Description | The minutes are handwritten and printed and signed by the committee Chairman. The minutes are in the volume entitled 'Housing Sub-Committee' faintly on the spine. The minutes comprise mainly information gathered by the sub-committee to analyse the advantages and disadvantages of municipal and private sector housing schemes for Birmingham's working classes. The minutes of 18 December 1906 include detailed reports and comments on the Bordesley Green Estate, one of the earliest examples of the municipal housing estate which became more common in Birmingham after the First World War (see minutes 85 - 87 in BCC/1/BF/5/1/1). |
