| Description | Minute volumes indexed and signed by the committee Chairman. The minutes were compiled in typescript format. There are no minutes for the period November 1932 - October 1933 or July 1949 - May 1951 (see BCC/1/BH/14/1/1/11 and 27). The minutes contain details of the duties of the sub-committee as outlined above (see BCC/1/BH/14/1). The volumes include the reports of District Employment Sub-Committees and details of the Group Care Committee (formerly known as School Care Committees) meetings held in that district with date, location and brief remarks or notes of issues discussed; statistical reports on Juvenile Employment and Unemployment Insurance usually every 4 weeks including details of the numbers of applications by boys and girls for employment, the number of claims for unemployment benefit and number of boys and girls placed within named areas (no names of individuals given); lists of Meetings of parents arranged by Group Care Committees with date, location with school name and names of speakers; appointment of named staff eg at evening play centres and appointment of named staff by the sub-sub-committees. The names of children are occasionally mentioned and after 1929 this can be in relation to the additional welfare responsibilities of the sub-committee with the management of hostels and the boarding out of children, and after 1933 with the management of remand homes. The minutes also include the reports and resolutions of the sub-sub-committees as listed above below. |
