| Description | Minute volumes indexed and signed by the sub-committee Chairman. The sub-committee did not meet during September or October 1939 (see BCC/1/BH/2/2/1/28), and the minute volume for the November 1941 - October 1942 is currently missing (see BCC/1/BH/2/2/1/31). The minutes are handwritten up until November 1915, after which they appear in typescript format. The minute books were originally accessioned under the reference MS 229 and MS 280.
The Teaching Staff Sub-Committee minute books record the exercise of duties of the sub-committee under the authority of the Elementary Education Sub-Committee, later Primary Education Sub-Committee, as outlined above. These mainly comprise lists of teachers’ names recommended for appointment at named schools. Details of salaries and resignations are also sometimes noted. The first minute book of the sub-committee dates from February 1899 as the sub-committee had formerly reported to the School Board with the same remit. |
