| Description | Minute volumes signed by the committee Chairman and handwritten up until June 1914, after which date the minutes were compiled in typescript format. There are no minutes for the period July 1914 - October 1922 (see BCC/1/BH/6/2/1/3). Not all of the minute books have been indexed, and it has been indicated on each volume if there is no index available. In volumes BCC/1/BH/6/2/1/16 - 23 the minutes have been irregularly numbered, although the minutes follow a chronological sequence, therefore no attempt has been made to denote the minute numbers in their catalogue records.
The Sites and Buildings Accounts and Repairs Sub-Committee minutes record the submission of Accounts (salaries, sums owed for equipment purchased, water and fuel supplied etc) and architects’ certificates to the Sites and Buildings Sub-Committee for forwarding to the Finance and General Purposes Sub-Committee; requisitions for furniture and equipment at named schools which are approved or declined; recommendations of District School Managers concerning work required; schedules of furniture and equipment required by named new, reorganised and extended schools; resolutions of standing sub-committees such as Elementary Education Sub-Committee (and related sub-committees such as Cottage Homes and Residential Schools Sub-Committee) concerning supplies of coal and coke, outstanding repairs and similar matters for schools and cottage homes; details of individual caretakers, their work, disputes, dismissals, salaries; and the names of contractors and teachers. |
