AdminHistoryThe Hospitals and Homes Sub-Committee was appointed in November 1929, and consisted of thirteen members. Its purpose was to consider questions relating to the Infectious Disease Hospitals and Sanatoria at Tower House, and the institutions taken over from the Guardians of the Poor, namely the at Selly Oak and Dudley Road, as well as the convalescent homes at Wassell Grove and Oaklands, following the Local Government Act of 1929. In November 1931, the Sub-Committee was split into Hospitals North and Hospitals South, but in December 1933 the two were re-merged to form the existing Hospitals Sub-Committee.

Two sub-sub-committees also reported to this sub-committee. The Dudley Road Hospital and Wassell Grove Home Sub-Sub-Committee was appointed in April 1930 to consider questions regarding the transfer of those institutions from the Guardians of the Poor Law to the Council following the passing of the Local Government Act of 1929. The Selly Oak Hospital and Oaklands Home Sub-Sub-Committee was also appointed in April 1930, with an operational remit similar to the Dudley Road Hospital and Wassell Grove Home Sub-Sub-Committee.
