| Description | Some minutes indexed. The minutes are printed and signed by the committee Chairman. Minutes BCC/1/BO/2/1/1 - 3 are in the volumes entitled 'General Purposes Sub-Committee'. Minutes BCC/1/BO/2/1/4 - 12 are in the appropriately dated combined sub-committee minute volumes (see BCC/1/BO/19). The minutes include details of land and site acquisition for various parks, some brief accounts and schedules of competitive tenders for proposed works, the provision of amenities and buildings on the parks, and some detailed reports and descriptions of various parks in the city. The minutes of the early 1920s and early 1930s contain a large amount of information about the employment of those out of work on public works schemes in the city parks during economic depression (for example, see minutes of 22 November 1923, minutes 2659 - 2660 and interleaved sections 1 - 6, in BCC/1/BO/2/1/6). There are some weather schedules for some major events, such as golf competitions. |
