AdminHistoryThe Decasualisation Sub-Committee was formed in April 1920 to consider the success of the Decasualisation of Labour Scheme. This was a scheme inaugurated by the government in 1913 whereby the Ministry of Labour kept a register of men suitable for Corporation work, and supplied them when the Corporation requested casual labour. In the first six months of the scheme, 1575 posts were filled; however, many departments did not like the scheme, finding many candidates 'not of the right stamp', and advertised elsewhere.
