AdminHistoryIn 1919 decisions were required about returning such land to public use, and since many demobilised servicemen had applied for smallholdings, the Council made further commitments to obtaining that land. The Agriculture and Smallholdings Committee was established that year, with its own Allotment Sub-Committee. Its purpose was the finance, acquisition, maintenance, processing of applications and the letting of farms and farm buildings. It was also responsible for the finance, acquisition, maintenance, managing of applications and letting for agricultural land, including drainage and water supply. Further, it also took a role in the purchase of lease farm equipment, as well as the administration of farm fertilisers and feeding stuffs, with responsibility for aspects of animal welfare and sporting rights.
