AdminHistoryThe Finance Sub-Committee was formed in January 1930, to advise the main Public Assistance Committee on all aspects of finance regarding the public assistance programme. They liaised with the Salaries, Wages and Labour Committee (see BCC/1/BU) regarding pay for staff, sick pay, annual leave and the like, as well as keeping accounts for the main committee and its expenditure. The sub-committee also made cost estimates, budgets and audited accounts. The sub-committee was renamed the Finance and General Purposes Sub-Committee in November 1941, as it took on the responsibility to advise the main committee an any matter it saw fit to place before it, until the National Assistance Act, 1948, which saw the disestablishment of the committee. A minor sub-sub-committee also reported to this sub-committee. It was appointed in January 1935, its main function being the overseeing collections (see BCC/1/CD/3/1/4 - 5).
