| AdminHistory | The General Purposes Sub-Committee was established in April 1938, and was renamed the Finance and General Purposes Sub-Committee that October. It consisted of four to six main committee members, and its original purpose was to attend to matters relating to civilian evacuation. Later it took responsibility for staffing appointments and any other matters referred to it by the main committee not already referred to other sub-committees. In October 1938, financial matters were added to its remit and it became responsible for checking and passing accounts for payment to the Finance Committee (see BCC 1/AH). |
