AccessConditionsThe records of the Reception Sub-Committee are extremely sensitive, and often name individual cases of children in care. The records have therefore been closed for 100 years in compliance with the Data Protection Act, 1998.
AdminHistoryThe Reception Sub-Committee was formed in July 1948. Its function was to examine reports on children and young persons committed to, or received into, the care of the committee to determine the kind of care appropriate to them. Further, the sub-committee took control over and visited frequently the Reception Homes provided for the temporary reception of children, and appointed staff and took responsibility for the boarding-out and emigration of children in care of the Children's Committee. The function of this sub-committee became a part of the Child Care Sub-Committee in May 1952 (see BCC/1/CT/8).
