Its function was the provision and control of emergency and night hostels, a facility required in accordance with the National Assistance Act of 1948. The sub-committee appears to have been disestablished in May 1949, becoming a part of the Homes and Residential Accommodation Sub-Committee (see BCC/1/CU/8) and the Temporary Accommodation and Voluntary Homes Sub-Committee (see BCC/1/CU/9), both of which were established in May 1949. |
