AccessConditionsThe records of the Temporary Accommodation and Voluntary Homes Sub-Committee and its related sub-sub-committees are extremely sensitive, and often name individual adult cases and people in care. The records have therefore been closed for 100 years in compliance with the Data Protection Act, 1998.
AdminHistoryThis sub-committee was formed in May 1950. Its function was the provision and control of temporary and emergency accommodation provided at hostels and other facilities, excluding the Dudley Road Infirmary. Further, the sub-committee provided all staff and to recover from persons any costs involved for placing them into Council care and to review any existing cases, which was the function of the former Revision and Maintenance Sub-Committee (see BCC/1/CU/6). Initially, the sub-committee was divided into two rotas, which met and conducted business in turn, which lasted for the first two years, their functions being to interview residents and arrange appropriate care. The sub-committee remained in operation until April 1957, after which the responsibility for emergency accommodation was transferred to the Housing Management Committee (see BCC/1/CY). A Minor Rota Sub-Sub-Committee also reported to this sub-committee. It was appointed in June 1950 and sat until May 1952 to interview and arrange care for residents (see BCC/1/CU/9/1/4).
