AdminHistoryThe Finance and General Purposes Sub-Committee was appointed in January 1951, and comprised nine members of the Housing Management Committee. Its function was to advise the main committee on any financial matter and any other matter delegated to it, but these tended to centre mostly on staffing issues and other administrative business, such as the ordering of stores and stationery. The sub-committee was disestablished in April 1964, but was re-appointed in June 1966, with the added responsibility for sales of municipal housing, the purchase of houses, appropriations, improvements and conversions, and the provision of garages and parking places.
