TitleRegisters of children boarded out in Birmingham
LevelSub Series
Date1940 - 1984
DescriptionDates in this series relate to the boarding out dates given in the relevant volume.

Volumes in this series give quite basic information, and detailed entries are unusual. Entries marked 'See new book 1/1' refer to BCC 1/DJ/D/1/1/2/1/13.

From 1930-1948 boarding out was part of the remit of the City Council's Education Committee. In 1948 responsibility was transferred to the newly formed Children's Committee, and in 1972 responsibility passed to the new Social Services department.

Registers indicate where children had been living before being boarded out, so in cases where this was one of the children's residential homes run by the City Council, records can be cross-referenced.
