| Description | This volume of correspondence includes letters on such topics as the reduction of council buildings once the amalgamation takes place, roads, answers to queries about Poor Law Jurisidiction and the reduction of council officers. Some of the letters concern staff who are to be temporarily employed until they can find an alternative job, council workers who were to be retired or allowed to retain their current jobs. Letters thanking Ramsey Macdonald and whips in Wigan, Manchester, Bradford, Colchester, Hull, Wolverhampton, Sheffield, Norwich, Leicester amongst others for their support of the Birmingham Bill. Discussion of the process of the Birmingham Bill through Parliament makes up a large part of this volume. |
