| AdminHistory | This was a short-lived committee, formed in March 1901, and consisting of all the representatives of the Estates and Health Committees. Its purpose was to investigate the Staniforth Street housing development and any other referred to it. The remit of the committee was also extended to cover nearby houses on Potter Street and Moland Street. The committee was largely continuing the largely uncompleted task of providing affordable working class housing, following the large scale slum clearance and redevelopment projects carried out by the Improvement Committee in Birmingham's central areas during the period 1875 - 1899 (see BCC/1/AX). This committee was superseded by the more specialist Housing Committee by the end of the year (see BCC/1/BF). |
