| AdminHistory | The Voluntary Hospitals Commission was appointed by the Ministry of Health (formed in 1919) and was to supervise the distribution of the government money, acting on the advice of local hospital committees. To do this in Birmingham, a Local Voluntary Hospitals Committee was established in March 1922. The committee consisted of representatives from the Council, the Voluntary Hospitals Commission and Joint Hospitals Council. The committee advised the government commission, collected information on their area, enhanced co-operation between hospitals and help maintain the voluntary hospital system. In April 1925, the committee was merged with the Birmingham Hospitals Council (see BCC/1/FB). |
