DescriptionThis committee represented the staff of residential establishments. Its purposes were: 'To consider and make recommendations on matters of broad professional and administrative concern affecting the whole of residential establishments within the Residential and Day Care Services Division. To represent the views and opinions of staff of residential establishments to management on policy and practice directly affecting residential homes. To act as a vehicle for the Divisional Consultative Group to determine staff opinion regarding proposals being considered at Divisional level. To bring to the attention of the Divisional Group via the Assistant Director, matters giving cause for concern within any area relating to residential establishments.' Initially only children's homes were represented, but in 1975 homes for the elderly and those with disabilities were included. Meetings were held on a monthly basis, at various Social Services buildings around the city. Mr Wilkes, a member of staff at Forhill House, acted as Secretary to the Committee from 1977-1978 and as Chairman from 1978 onwards.
