TitleIndustrial Supervision sub-committee
LevelSub Series
Date1875 - 1877
Description The Engineers and Industrial Trainers Supervision sub-committee was originally formed in 1875, but by the following year had changed its name to the more manageable Industrial Supervision sub-committee. - Under the aegis of the Visiting and General Purposes committee, the sub-committee consisted of three Guardians, and was responsible for overseeing any engineering work carried out within the workhouse or other Union buildings. This work included the fitting of new boilers, the provision of hot and cold running water to the workhouse, and the supply of gas lighting. However, by October 1877 the sub-committee was dealing with very little business, and it was agreed by the Visiting and General Purposes committee that it should be merged into the House and School sub-committee (see GP B/2/3/3, above).

The surviving volume of minutes contains information on all of the above functions of the committee, along with details on the attendance figures at each meeting.
