LevelSub Series
Date1912 - 1914
DescriptionThe Western Road House Revision sub-committee was formed in 1912 by the Western Road House sub-committee, which was in turn subsidiary to the House committee. Consisting of seven Guardians, the sub-committee's job was to 'undertake the revision of inmates and to receive and deal with reports of officers relating thereto.' (see GP B/2/1/81) In practice, this meant they were responsible for regularly reviewing the status of paupers, and deciding on whether they should remain in the workhouse. The committee could also issue warrants for the apprehension of individuals who had abandoned their families, which were now dependent on the Union for support.
