| Description | The Erdington Infirmary sub-committee was created in 1912 following the amalgamation of the Aston, Birmingham and King's Norton Unions. Reporting directly to the Infirmaries committee, and consisting of eight Guardians, it was the sub-committee's job to monitor the day-to-day running of the infirmary - including the appointment of staff and the care of individual patients. The sub-committee was also required, along with the Dudley Road and Selly Oak Infirmary sub-committees, to report regularly to the Infirmaries committee, which would in turn report to the Board of Guardians. The sub-committee continued to operate until 1914, at which point the infirmary came under the authority of the House committee (see GP B/2/3/14/1-2). The sub-committee still continued to be active, reporting to the House committee rather than the Infirmaries committee, but the minutes for it during this period do not survive.
The volumes contain information on all aspects of the infirmary's daily work. GP B/2/4/10/1 also includes a copy of the infirmary's regulations for nursing staff. |
