| Description | The Selly Oak Infirmary sub-committee was created in 1912 following the amalgamation of the Aston, Birmingham and King's Norton Unions. Reporting directly to the Infirmaries (later the Hospitals) committee, and consisting of six Guardians, it was the sub-committee's job to monitor the day-to-day running of the infirmary - including the appointment of staff and the care of individual patients. The sub-committee was also required, along with the Erdington and Dudley Road Infirmary sub-committees, to report regularly to the Infirmaries committee, which would in turn report to the Board of Guardians. The change of name, from Selly Oak Infirmary to Selly Oak Hospital, took place around 1922, but the exact date is unclear. The sub-committee continued to operate up until the dissolution of the Union in 1929-1930.
The minutes contain details on all of the day-to-day functions of the hospital, as outlined above. The volumes are indexed. |
