TitleQuinton Hall sub-committee
LevelSub Series
Date1929 - 1930
DescriptionThe Quinton Hall sub-committee was founded in 1929. An earlier report by the House committee had concluded that further accommodation was needed by the Union, as 'very little extension has been undertaken since the amalgamation of the three local Poor Law Authorities in 1912.' (see GP B/2/1/97) Suitable premises were found in the then defunct Bourne College in Quinton, and it was decided by the Board that this institution should be used for the care of elderly male paupers. Accordingly, a sub-committee was appointed by the House committee. Consisting of seven Guardians, the sub-committee's job was to administer the homes and deal with issues relating to the care of inmates and the furnishing and renovation of the premises. It is unclear what happened to the home after the dissolution of the Union in 1930 [BCC Public Assistance Committee?].

The surviving volume of minutes contains details on all aspects of the homes, including their initial preparation and furnishing. Along with this volume, one of the Home's referral registers also survives (see GP B/19/2). The minutes are indexed.
