Date1907 - 1909
DescriptionFollowing a recommendation by the General Purposes Committee in March 1907 (see GP KN/2/1/41), a new standing committee was instituted. The Building Committee's main duties were to 'supervise and control the execution of such works of structural alterations at the Workhouse or Infirmary', with either the Infirmary Committee or the Workhouse Committee having the option to supervise any works costing in excess of รบ50, and to 'consider all questions referred to them by the Board or by any Standing Committee relating to works of repairs, structural alterations or additions to the erection and furnishing of any new buildings, or the acquisition of any land or premises and to report to the Board their recommendations' (see GP KN/2/1/41).

Consisting of ten Guardians, the Committee met every two weeks. The minutes contain information on proposed changes to the Union buildings, and the erection of new premises, along with their internal fixtures and fittings. Details of tenders put out for these projects, and the decisions of the Committee on them are also included. Further details of building projects within the Union can be found in the Building Sub-Committee's minute book (see GP KN/2/9/1). The volume is indexed.
