| Description | This volume contains information on all applications made by the poor for out-relief, and would be the document presented to the Guardians by the Relieving Officer from which they would make the final decision on the level of relief in each case. Originally, this volume would have been part of a much longer series, but unfortunately this is the only example to have survived.
Each entry deals firstly with the personal details of each applicant, and their immediate family (if any) - their names, ages, place of residence, and occupation. Information on the level of relief already being received (if any) is then given, followed by the reasons why this application is being made. The entries then end with the final decision of the Guardians, either having granted or refused relief, being entered. The volume is not indexed. |
