| Related Material | The Kathleen Ferrier Archive remembers the tragically short life of the former Blackburn telephone operator who rose to international stardom and musical acclaim. The archive features family photographs featuring one-year-old Kathleen on her mother's lap, surrealist pictures of Ferrier performing in 'The Rape of Lucretia' (the title role written for her by Benjamin Britten), diaries, gramophone records, her fur coat, performance memorabilia to details relating to her death. A diary entry on October 8 1953 details Kathleen Ferrier's planned singing engagement in Leeds - the date she died. Other later diary entries have been crossed out by Blackburn's world-famous star as she realised cancer would prevent her making the appointments. The archive is available in Blackburn Archive/Museum. |
