| Description | Begins as meetings of creditors of J and E Sturge Ltd., the creditors being members of the Sturge and Albright families who had advanced money for the development of the Montserrat estate. The Montserrat concerns of the company were then placed under a separate board from the Birmingham interests. The principal business of the Montserrat Company was the production and export of lime juice, first for the use in chemical processes at Edgbaston and later as a source of vitamin C to prevent scurvy in seafarers.
