Applicant overview: The JCF was established in 1975 as a tribute to the memory of Jim Conway, the General Secretary of the Amalgamated Union of Engineering Workers, now the Amalgamated Engineering Union (AEU). JCF was created and is controlled by trade union members. JCF aims to, 1) provide a forum for the exchange of ideas between trade union members, 2) expand knowledge of trade unions through publications and the dissemination of information, 3) respond to the needs of trade unions through the provision of education and information services, 4) encourage exchange visits between domestic and foreign trade unionists, and 5) assist in the development of an awareness of the need for a better understanding between those involved in industrial relations.
