| Description | Grant file containing correspondence, minutes, agendas, grant overviews, academic journals, reports, leaflets, project proposals and funding requests relating to the Children's Rights Development Unit (CRDU). Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: The CRDU was set-up in March 1992 as a three-year independent project to promote the fullest possible implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The work of the Unit falls into two broad interlinked areas. First, it aims to produce a National Agenda for Children. The Agenda will identify, Article by Article, where current law, policy and practice in the UK fails to meet the standards embodied in the Convention and will develop detailed policy proposals, which, if implemented, would bring the UK into line with those standards. Second, the Unit will take an active role in promoting awareness of the Convention and working with local and health authorities, voluntary and professional bodies to develop strategies for applying principles contained in the Convention to their policies and practice. Nature of support: In 1990 the Trust approved a three-year grant at £10,000 per annum for the duration of the CRDU project. Minutes: B&GSCT 7298. Notes: File organised from newest to oldest. File numbered 'EA/6/1'. |
