Applicant overview: The home opened in 1911 as Birmingham Children's Remand Home having been paid for by Barrow and Geraldine Cadbury. At this stage, the home was run by a voluntary committee, which worked closely with the City Council. The Centre provides accommodation for children over ten and also serves at the administrative hub for thirteen other homes in the central district. Nature of support: In 1985 the Trust made a grant of £75 towards the garden fund at Athelstan House. In 1986 the Fund provided £38 for framing costs for as picture of Barrow and Geraldine Cadbury.
