2. Letter to J. Mason, 16 Mar 1857. "We are not forgetting the important project in which you have so kindly associated us with you. Wee hope to meet a few select friends in strictly private conference."
3. Letter to J. Mason, 25 Mar 1857 Following meeting referred to above, certain individuals including Mr Lea, Mr Fowler, Mr Middlemoor and Rev. Miller were deputed to "present to you the resolutions passed and also to confer further with you".
4. Letter to J. Mason, 7 Apr 1857 "Our next Sub Com. is fixed for Monday next, April 13 ... It would be a pleasure to us all and would facilitate business if you could be present".
5. Letter to [J. Mason] written from Beaufort St, Chelsea, 30 Apr 1857 Encloses letter from Mr. Lea, which sets out his objections to Mason's scheme: Mr. Lea will not see his way to co-operate either as Trustee or Committeeman". He also explains his own failure to support Mason's venture.
