| Description | Pages at the front of this volume record shoes bought, who they were bought for and how much they cost. Also at the front of the volume is 'an inventory of the goods belonging to the charity school' which is split into areas, e.g. '[goods] in the cellar', 'in the girls' school', etc. The rear of the volume contains: 'an inventory of the goods bought for the Charity School of Birmingham by [illegible name] Tonks and Tho[mas] Dunscombe' from 13 August 1724 to 18 February [1725]; also at the rear: 'the expences (in apparel &c.) of all the children belonging to Mr Fenthams charity...' for 3 April 1741 - this list records the purchase of 9 pairs of shoes and there are no further entries; 'an account of the expenses of the charity school with the number of children' for 4th March 1739 - 26 October 1741. The final item at the rear of the volume is a list of 'shoes bought of Mr Richard' for the 15th February 1749, which records only two names - possibly the recipients of the shoes. |
