| Description | This volume deals with the Blue Coat school's plans to build a new estate on an area of land they had acquired, and then later building projects undertaken by the school. On the first page is the following title: 'report upon the Hinds and Birchfields estate situate in the liberty of Bordesley in the Parish of Aston (otherwise called the Sparkbrook Estate)'.
The volume contains information from Estate Committee meetings regarding building on the land, building streets, constructing sewers, etc. Also, later in the volume: special meeting of the Estate Committee 10 January 1862, 'convened for the purpose of receiving a communication from Mr. Griffiths concerning the Sparkbrook Estate', where the committee discuss the building of a road and the purchase of land for that purpose.
Later in the volume, is a report 'as to purchasing Mr. Dowler's land situate in Anderton's Lane' with a breakdown of costs for building on the land, also including an appendix containing copies of correspondence with Mr. Griffiths regarding the land. The next part of the volume is 'a report of estate committee as to estate improvements, income &c'. At the rear of the volume is a scale drawing of the Sparkbrook estate and two plans showing the proposed location of houses. |
