AdminHistoryIn 2003 the Digital Handsworth website was launched, a culmination of a project financed by the New Opportunities Fund as part of the Digital Midlands Consortium of projects. The project aimed to " improve access to material of historical significance and capture and preserve ephemeral resources such as photographs, personal documents and film in the possession of archives, libraries, museums and the community." The website provides an accessible digital resource that is updated and gathers together recent documents as well as records from the time that Handsworth was a rural village in the 19th century. Community engagement was an important part of the project and activities were arranged to produce material for the website and to promote the possibilities of the resource provided by the website.
