DescriptionPhotographed by Coventry City Council City Engineer's Department. The Red Ditch. The Red Ditch is mentioned in the Leet of 1421 and was probably made by the Grey Friars in 1230 - 1234. It runs from the east side of Little Park Street and formerly emptied itself into the river in Gosford Street. A cavity in the ditch revealed walls two feet six inches wide, three feet deep, one foot below ground, covered by stone slabs one foot thick stone walls.
