DescriptionLondon Office. Letters to James Brown in London, from 1840. During this year the office moved from 13 to 18 London Street, necessitated by the extension of the Blackwall Railway, and letters will be found directed to both addresses. The letters from this year also contain references to the departure of Matthew Robinson Boulton from the firm, and the introduction of Henry Wollaston Blake to the firm through William Cotton of the Bank of England. Relatively few letters from this year have survived.
