| Description | 1856—1857; 1862—1863. Letters from L. Souberbielle et Compagnie, Compagnie Française de Bateaux à Vapeur, entre Paris et Londres, 1, Rue de la Bourse, Paris. The firm bought 80 horse power engines for five steam boats from James Watt & Co. in 1856, but they subsequently went bankrupt, and James Watt & Co. were forced to take legal action against their successors in France in 1862 and 1863. This is the main bundle of correspondence concerning L. Souberbielle, but various other letters and papers were kept in a second smaller bundle – see 12/65. |
